The spinach is brown because it's the post-apocalypse and even canned food has a shelf life. So, risk food poisoning or go hungry... these are your options.

It's probably a decision you could only make at the time. I think just saying 'human nature' is reductive though, because there are two sides to it, and we're not all always bad (or good). You could at least end up with someone to travel with for a bit.

Not sure I believe in so called "human nature" at this point but I'd rather take my chances by casting my lot in with a few strangers than face the apocalypse alone.

I think it was like, 15 mins? During the original A-Bomb tests, this was, for the Manhattan Project.

>>1338
Yea they do that a lot in movies and games, but if I had a nice big knife or gun, a radio, but not too much food, you know what I'd do? Set up a trap to rob people! (Even if they had no food of their own, I'm assuming a barter economy, along with radios, is one of the quicker things to spring up).

Something to the effect of "we are at [x position] heading to [y position] meet us there" in case there are any survivors listening. Hey it's the post apocalypse, we should all hang together right?

They are very simple devices and don't break quickly because they have no moving parts. They last for years, all you need is a little electricity. My roommate still has a CB in his truck and still uses it occasionally. Come doomsday, everyone could dig their old CB's and walkie talkies out of the garage and dust them off because that mobile phone in your pocket? it's basically a paperweight now.

It does put me in mind though, and this ties in with the first post, of how quickly they could get radios up and working post-atom blast. Obviously radios are pretty simple, but it's still rather surprising.
