Thanks for downloading. Those .exes were simple Flash animations by a Japanese Lain fan in the late 90s, possibly before .swfs could be run locally effectively without an actual Flash program. They run just as the original copland.swf and cos.swf do, and, as far as I could see at the time that I saved them, had no malicious code, but if you don't trust .exes, I think I included the original .swfs in there too. If not, here they are.

As for a direct download, there's http://www.epic-anime.com/2009/06/serial-experiments-lain.html, but I haven't checked if that's legit. Bit suspicious as it doesn't list codecs used. I checked two others, one of which was Spanish dubbed despite claiming to be Japanese w/subs, the other of which was of unwatchable quality. I have a copy, which would've been in the .zip if it wouldn't have pushed the size over 2GB, so I'll upload that if the above link doesn't work and it can't be found on RS/MF search engines.
