Oh I've seen them both too, and greatly enjoyed the cartoon show... because I was ten years old. I actually tried to watch The Battle for Endor last week, just for a laugh, and was quite surprised for a few minutes at the serious tone they established with the little girl seeing her whole family massacred plus plenty of other on-screen deaths by way of laser and spear. Then I got as far as the bit where Wickett builds the hang glider and chases after the dragon creature and decided nope, this is too shitty even for children's television.

Did your friend have the stuffed toys as well? That's a bad sign if you were teens already.

"Episode IV" was apparently added in the 1981 re-release. I remember seeing the movie on cable in the early 80's and it already said Episode IV, though it was a wtf? moment when me and my brothers noticed that for the first time. Anyway I just watched the trilogy this week, thanks to the suggestion in this thread to try the laserdisc version (its been so long, I'm basically a born again noob when it comes to Star Wars and don't know everything a good fan should though I'm catching up quickly) and it definitely says Episode IV. The others said Episode V and VI right from their first release as far as I know.

I'll send $1000 to any megachanner who can sit through both of the made-for-TV Ewok flicks though, and can prove it somehow. Sweet fucking Jesus, some things you just can't go back to.

Get the laserdisc rips of the original trilogy. They're the cleanest looking version that doesn't have the recuts. The CGI add-ins are bad, especially because they ruin the tone of some key scenes.
